How to be Seductive without looking like a Slut

Photobucket

It's just a dress.

It's just a grey dress I got from Primark about two years ago. It's not so short that I get paranoid that my date can see my knickers when I bend down. It's doesn't have a V-neck plunge that goes so far down that my breasts hit people in the eye when I make sudden movements. It's not one of those annoying transparent dresses where anyone who cares to look can see what's underneath. It's an incredibly simple outfit and yet, I would feel more than happy to wear this on a date.

Why is it that when it comes to men, even someone who usually dresses like a librarian suddenly decides the only acceptable thing to wear is next to nothing?

Do you remember what your mother used to say about the boys you fancied at school? "He may be nice to look at, but I bet there's nothing upstairs." Guess what! Men think the same thing when they see a woman wearing a skirt that looks like a belt!

Leaving a few things to the imagination (...or at least to the second month of the relationship) can go a long way, and believe it or not, it is possible to be seductive without being a slut...

How much cleavage to show

Well to be honest, you don't really have to show any at all. You could always have a dark, satin or silk top and then an OTT necklace that ends before your cleavage begins - this way his eyes will be focusing on your jewellery and not on your body.

However, for some shapes it can be flattering to wear a V-neck. In this case, less is definitely more. If you've got a top that shows a little too much information, wear a plain round-neck one underneath.

Long legs need long sleeves

Wanting to wear a skirt that ends mid-thigh does not automatically make you a prostitute, especially if worn with black tights. However, I advise you to make up for how much you're flashing underneath by not showing much on top with a long-sleeved shirt.

Likewise, if you insist on wearing a top that shows a lot of flesh, wear trousers.

Hypnotising colours

The most flattering and captivating colour is, in my opinion, black. Of course wearing it from head-to-toe can give the false impression that you are either a Goth or have just returned from a funeral. Plus, even though it can make you appear slimmer, it's also an easy trap for making your normally-hourglass silhouette appear to be a brick. I suggest that you mix it up with some red and gold for a glamorous touch - i.e. a black dress with subtle gold and red accessories and shoes, or black trousers and a gold top.

...Men don't like make-up. No, really.

Less is more when it comes to make-up. Go back to basics with a subtle layer of foundation (don't go too thick on certain areas just because you're worried about spots, it will just make your skin look worse), minimal eye liner and mascara and a nice clear lip gloss. Clear lip gloss is also excellent for dates because you won't be worried about smudging it while you eat.

Now smile like you own the world! Good luck seducing him!
